about

O' is a ritual and a voyage to find Ada Gadass, an eccentric time traveler.
She is the personification of the mother of us all, the anonymous woman, the burned witch. Ada tells us about the ‘Wild Woman’ in all her desires, heartbreak, shapes, times, myths and stories. Where can we find these female archetypes within ourselves, and in the world around us today?
Starting with a prayer to all our sisters, lovers, and mothers, the project unfolds with eleven timeless stories in sound that we dedicate to the universal woman that connects us as one.

In the desert she is transparant, integrated in waves of sand. In the river she is translucent, transformed in water where the rhythm of her steps become home to her voice.

Our sonic journey started in the Sahara desert January 2017 where we recorded ‘Nina’ under a black tent on a de-tuned guitar in the middle of Oasis Tissardmine on the Oed Saf Saf, 30kms southeast of Rissani. In January 2018 we took our collected sounds to a watermill in a village in the South of France and finished writing eleven stories in sound that we would like to gift to you as a reminder of the multitudes of the feminine and the depth of her soul.

Many have inspired us to make this record. Our love and gratitude goes out to Roberta Petzoldt who created the painting for the cover of this record. To Roy van Rosendaal who recorded and helped us produce all sounds in our headquarters, Studio Meduse MagiQ in Amsterdam. To our lovers and brothers Byron Meyer who played guitar (or should we say whale sounds?) on ‘Soukaina’, ‘Penelope' and ‘Anne’ and Dennis Duijnhouwer who gave us a solid anchor on ‘Louhi’ and for his enhancing bass on ‘Soukaina’. Thank you Soukaina Fahsi for your forbidden singing in the Palais Bahia in Marrakech. We also would like to thank the men of the Tulos choir for singing on ‘Ada’. All songs are written and composed by Rosa Ronsdorf and Alexandra Duvekot on piano, guitar, cello, synths, vocals and percussion except ‘Sophie’ which has emerged from a text by Sophie Elizabeth Fraser, our beloved sister, whose writings are so sensible and honest that we could not resist giving her poem an identity in sound. Last but not least, thanks to Steven Demetre Georgia aka Cat Stevens aka Yusuf Islam for your Wild World. We’ll always remember you as a child, boy.

Thank you.

We love you dearly. May this gift find you well and make you travel within the depths of your own heart.

Thank you SENA Muziekproductie fonds for making this possible.
